Hmm, I was going to guess ketchup but it seems jon has beaten me to it... so I'm going to guess red kool aid. Or maybe red kool aid somehow thickened with cornstarch or something, it would be a bit runny...
All good guesses, but since Psycho is in black and white, the props folks chose to use chocolate syrup!
