I bet George Clooney never had to worry about a TRIVIA QUZI in med school!

So today's questions are brought to you by The American Medical Association and The Mutter Museum. The Mutter Museum is where I learned that most conjoined twins from the early 1900s spent some time in North Carolina. Why is that???

And now on to the questions, submitted by Kim (she asked that I not reveal how much she's paid in tuition to learn these facts):

1) What are "heartstrings?" Bonus points if you can tell me why Hallmark is constantly attempting to tug on them...

2) How many concussions can an athelete sustain before he/she is banned from competing? What malady of old age can too many concussions contribute to?

3) What one injury comprises about 55 percent of all sports injuries?

Good luck! And here's a quote from A Mighty Wind about sports injuries...

Heartstrings - aren't they valves or something? We pull on them so that our s/o buys us more chocolate (hint, hint).

I didn't think there was a limit on concussions. Many concussions lead to, um, I forget, I hit my head too many times.

Most sports injuries are pulled muscles (ow!).

Ah, no hardcore med students out there, eh? Well, here are the answers:

1) Heartstrings are Chordae tendinae, tiny stringlike muscles that pull the leaflets of the heart valves open

2) There's a limit of 5 concussions per athlete, and they can contribute to dementia later on.

3) According to this article:

it's runner's knee!
