Somebody once told me that Neon is a noble TRIVIA QUIZ!

Today's trivia quiz is brought to you by period pieces , and specifically, by Dame Judy Dench who has made a career of starring in them!

So, it's time to dig back into those chemistry classes in high school and college and the dreaded periodic table. Anybody else out there have to memorize certain groups of elements and their atomic numbers? Who is the father of the periodic table? There are two possible answers to this one, depending on whether you're Russian or German.

Bonus points if you can give the proper orbital structure for Cl...good luck!

Ooh, I'm stumped. I have no idea who the father of the periodic table is, though I always enjoyed the elements at the end named after Einstein, Curie and Fermi...makes you think that maybe, someday, you too can have an element named for you. No bonus points for me today, either...I might still have my chemistry model set somewhere, though.

So the fathers in question were Dmitri Mendeleev (Russian) and Johann Dobereiner (German).

Here's the part where I embarass myself...so Cl has 17 electrons: that would be:
2-1s 2-2s 8-2p 2-3s 2-3p
